Fire Keeper was made as a submission for the Global Game Jam in 2019, and was produced entirely in 48 hours by a team of four people; Tom Fabry, Matt L. Burgess, Gabriel Woch and myself.

The theme was ‘what does home mean to you?’ and for our team this was interpreted as a place of safety, home and familial strength.

Fire Keeper is best described as a children’s book in video-game form. Players take on the roll of ‘Wolf’, a tribal boy returning home after leaving against his family’s wishes. ‘Wolf’ must search the cave for his family and his backstory is presented through a series of cave paintings. The player must also keep the hearth fire alive by delivering wood and map the cave labyrinth by dropping torches.

A concept art piece for Wolf, the player character.
